Roopkotha: A child genius living up to his name Dhaka, Feb. 18 — At the tender age of four, when most kids can at best hack away at some games on a computer, Wasik Farhan Roopkotha is skilled enough to operate Windows XP, including the whole Microsoft Office suite Access, and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and surf the internet like a veteran. The born genius, a resident of Gulshan in capital Dhaka, unbelievably started toying around with the mouse and keyboard attached to his parents’ computer with panache, when he was barely seven months old. Roopkotha, born 27 January 2006, is now capable of operating the computer all by himself. The IT professionals at Cosmos Centre expressed their wonder witnessing the computer skills of the little devil when he visited the UNB office recently. During his two-hour visit to the UNB office, Roopkotha, whose name translates to’fairytale’ in English, demonstrated his extraordinary proficiency at the computer using all kinds of software. He made folders and saved those at directed drives, installed software and games CDs, made graphs and tables, aced various tough games, and browsed the internet and edited images in Photoshop as if he was playing with a 4-year old’s toys! It was enthralling to see the boy type words with his tiny fingers on the keyboard.
